October 2014 | Majo, a 75-year-old christian woman lives with her husband Khdr Mati and five other family members in a container in an unfinished building in the Erbil destrict Ankawa. The family fled from Bartella, a city in the east of Mosul, when ISIS took control of the region in August 2014.

Near Dêrik, Rojava/Northern Syria. October 2014 | Fany is a 20-year-old Yezidi who is originally from the village Siba Sheikh Khidr (Sinjar). After ISIS attacked the region she stayed with her children Nura, Jani, Dilyana und Navin in the mountains for nine days. Kurdish fighters from People’s Protection Unit (YPG) took them to the »Newroz« refugee camp. Her husband stayed in the Sinjar region to fight with the »Shingal Resistance Units« (YBS) against ISIS.

Near Dêrik, Rojava/Northern Syria. October 2014 | Sewi, a 39-year-old Yezidi is originally from Borek/Sindjar. She fled with her husband and her six children to the mountains when ISIS was overrunning the region in summer 2014. With the help of YPG fighters they came to »Newroz« refugee camp.
